We are making storytelling easy for you. Take a look as we walk you screen by screen through the stories etc app.

App1

Welcome to stories etc

You’re minutes away from telling your stories and sharing them with your family and friends. The first step of your exciting storytelling journey is to get yourself registered. Click “register” and follow the instructions. If you are a returning customer simply log-in below.

App2

New to stories etc? Welcome

You know the drill: Enter a user name, select a password and then enter your email address. Since many of our questions are specifically-tailored to each individual storyteller, we also ask you provide your birth date for a more enhanced storytelling experience. You can also log-in using your Facebook information. In either case, we will never share your information with third-party vendors. While we also vow to never share your stories, we’ll encourage you to share them with your friends and family often!

App3

Your “storytelling” home

Once logged in to your stories etc account, you’ll see the home screen which shows your most recent stories etc entries. If you’re new to stories etc, you’ll only see our included sample story. Don’t worry; once you start telling stories, this page will fill up quickly! Beginning the storytelling process is as easy as hitting the “Tell a Story” button at the bottom of the home screen.

App4

Tell your story

On this page your storytelling journey will come to life. Have an idea for a story or a “remember that one time” that you’d like to share with friends? Simply select a medium – video, voice, or text – and begin telling your story at your own pace.

If you’re unsure about where to begin, try our “10 for 10” section, which provides question prompts to help get the storytelling ideas flowing.

App5

Video recording

Let’s make a video! When you’re ready to begin, hit the red button and we’ll start capturing your story. Don’t worry about editing yourself or making it perfect. Through a series of interviews, we’ve learned people are often most-concerned with the content of the story, not how well it’s told.

Finished telling your story? Now hit that red button again to stop the recording.

The “back” button will take you back to the “Tell a Story” screen.

App6

Complete your recording

Now that you’ve completed your first video recording, click on the “play” triangle, and admire your work. Once satisfied, the “next” button will take you to another screen where you’ll be that much closer to saving, then sharing your story.

App7

A finished story

Finished stories are stories that are ready to be saved and shared. On this screen you can name your story and then provide a brief description of it. Placing a story into one of the “Life Theme” buckets makes it easy to index and recall the stories later using your stories etc home screen. Once you’re telling your hundredth story, you’ll be glad you did!

Adding a photo makes the story easier to identify. The “cover photo” feature allows you to use a picture from your camera roll or use your camera and snap a cover photo right now. Snap away!

Ready to share your story? Hit the “email” button. Remember, while you can share these stories with whomever you want, we will never share your stories without your permission.

App8

Save your story

See that progress bar? That means your story is being saved to our secure cloud-based server where it will be held for safe keeping for as long as you wish. Once it is finished uploading, you can click the “add” button at the bottom and begin a telling another story!

App9

10/10

Many of our storytellers have found it is easier to tell a story when they’re given prompts. This is why we created the stories etc “10 for 10”. The 10/10 offers 10 questions in 10 different phases or “chapters” of your life to help prompt the storytelling process. Questions cover many different aspects of life, including early life, teens, hobbies, professions, philosophies and so on. If you hear a question you want to answer, simply click to answer, select a medium (audio, video, text) and tell your story. Not ready to answer a question? Simply skip it, and come back to it later. For your convenience, we’ll keep track of your progress so that when you log back in you’ll know where you left off!

app10

The questions

When you hear a question you want to answer simply click on it, and begin the storytelling process. If you don’t hear a question you like – or you’re not yet ready to answer a given question – just skip it and we’ll give you a new one. We’ve got hundreds of questions stored. We work hard to make storytelling easy for you.

app11

Answering the questions

You asked us to supply a question. We did. You liked it enough to answer it.  It’s that easy. Simply choose a medium (audio, video, text) for capturing your story and begin. Remember, the reverse camera button at the bottom right of screen will flip the camera around on your device so you can see yourself while telling your story. The “back” button takes you to the previous screen. The “save” button will take you to what should now be a familiar screen to save and share your story!

App12

Voice recording

Talk to me! Much like the video recording process, just hit the red button and we’ll start capturing your story. Again, don’t worry about editing yourself or making it perfect. Through series of interviews, we’ve learned people are often most-concerned with the content of the story, not how well it’s told.

Finished telling your story? Now hit that red button again to stop the recording.

The “back” button will take you back to the “Tell a Story” screen.

app13

Complete audio recording

Ok, great, so now that you have finished an audio story what next? Just go to this page and give your story a name or caption.

Give as much detail as you like. Place it in one of the “Life Theme” buckets if you want. This may make it easier for you to find later, once you have hundreds of stories saved. Add a photo (thumbnail image) to identify your story. You can use a picture you already have, search for a representative image on the web or even use you camera and take a picture now and use it!

If you want to share this story with folks, just wait until it is fully saved and you will see a handy “email” icon underneath the title you gave the story. The email icon is to the left of the heart shaped “favorite” icon (used to indicate your favorite stories). Click that email icon and share away and remember, you can share these stories with anyone you want but we never will share anything without your permission.

app14

Your stories in print

Write it down and put your name it on it. Telling stories through text is another great way to share life’s happenings and your fondest memories with others.

When prompted to answer a question, simply select the “text” medium for capturing your story. You’ll be directed to a screen that looks and operates much like your device’s notepad. Now, write your story. Once you are finished, make your final revisions. When ready, hit the “next” button. You’ll then be able to save your story with a title, caption and photo, just as you did with your audio and video stories.

app15

Your life story One memory at a time

You’re on your way to telling your story and sharing it with others. Each story you share becomes another part of your life’s story — a story that your friends, family, and loved ones can enjoy together forever.

Some stories may work better as videos. Some stories may be better written down or as audio clips. We encourage you to explore stories etc, and find the best way to share your memories with your loved ones.

After all, it’s your story to tell.
